At number 1 among the recurring dishes and typical products mentioned in restaurant reviews in Italy are the Peperoni Cruschi from Lucania.
In 79% of cases, they are mentioned in excellent 4 or 5-star reviews.
This is indicated by the survey conducted by Travel Appeal on 17 million online reviews from food and wine travelers in Italy (Report on Food and Wine in Italy – June 2019).
We also discover that reviews increased by 44% in 2018 compared to the previous year.
Who is driving the growth? Google and The Fork at the expense of Trip Advisor, which is experiencing a decline.
The perception of food quality in Italian restaurants is positive in 80.86% of cases: leading the way are Umbria, Tuscany, and Trentino. And Basilicata? It earns an excellent sixth place with 87.5% of positive reviews (along with Abruzzo), well above the national average.

Finally, there are those who eat gluten-free who remain dissatisfied 41% of the time, and the disappointment (51% of the time) of those who chose a restaurant trusting the positive reviews read online.
