Pane di Altamura PDO is one of Italy's best-known traditional breads. Made with remilled Italian durum wheat semolina, it follows the rules of the Protected Designation of Origin and is baked in a wood-fired oven. Leavening with sourdough starter and baker's yeast gives the bread its distinctive aroma, crisp crust and firm crumb, qualities that have made Altamura bread famous around the world.

Traditional Accavallata Shape and Artisan Preparation

Pane di Altamura PDO is recognised by its characteristic folded accavallata shape. Each loaf is prepared according to local tradition, using carefully selected ingredients and time-honoured methods. The bread is shipped directly from the bakery in Altamura to preserve its freshness and distinctive qualities.

With its satisfying texture and an approximate shelf life of seven days, Pane di Altamura PDO 5kg is delicious with cured meats, cheeses, soups, pulses and Mediterranean dishes. It is also ideal for bruschetta and traditional recipes, retaining its flavour and character for several days after baking.
