Altamura DOP Bread
Altamura Bread, along with Matera Bread, is certainly one of the most well-known breads in Italy. It is produced with finely ground durum wheat semolina and baked in a wood-fired oven. The leavening is done with sourdough and beer yeast. Its shape, called "accavallata," is what distinguishes it from other breads.
