Naspro-Glazed Biscuits are among the most representative traditional sweets of Southern Italy and Basilicata. With their characteristic round shape and unmistakable white sugar glaze, they preserve a recipe handed down through generations and remain a symbol of traditional Lucanian pastry.

The Sugar Glaze that Makes Naspro Unique

What makes Naspro Biscuits special is their coating of sugar glaze, known locally as naspro. As it cools, the sugar turns white and forms a soft coating that keeps the biscuit pleasantly moist and fragrant. The dough is made with prized Carosella flour from Pollino, produced from ancient grains grown by guardian farmers and milled at Mulino Arleo in Castronuovo di Sant'Andrea, preserving the authenticity of the tradition.

The Traditional Bride's Biscuits

Also known as Bride's Biscuits, these sweets were traditionally given to wedding guests as a symbol of celebration and good fortune. Today they are perfect at breakfast, with tea or coffee, or shared on special occasions, bringing an authentic speciality of Lucanian confectionery tradition to the table.
